But there is still about 250 miles to go to Key West Florida .This will get done at the Thanksgiving break.
After I get to Key West I will have pedalled my bicycle from the Arctic Ocean (summer 2012) to Seattle to Key West (summer and fall 2013). This totals approximately 5500 miles.
I can lay claim to only what a small number of people have done on a bicycle, ride the entire span of north America from ocean to ocean to ocean .
The three oceans that surround our continent are the Atlantic, Pacific and the Arctic Oceans.
Anyone in decent shape can do what I did. The most remarkable achievement of this trip is keeping up with the day to day grind of riding, keeping hydrated, finding the right things to eat and not getting sick.
The most exciting parts of the trip has been meeting people from all walks of life. Most of the people I met had no concept as to how anyone could ride a bicycle like I was doing. Some looked at me in disbelieve and would just stand there and tell anyone that walked by what I was doing while I was talking to them.
One thing that I will always remember is not just the look on all the children’s faces when they I rode by with all my blinking lights, but the excitement they had when I stopped to talk to them. The kids now met someone going across America on the same type of vehicle they played on.
Last night Smoking Hot Wife and I had dinner for the first time together in a few weeks. It was nice to be home.
Today all I did was sit on the couch all day!
The most memorable moments of this trip has been the people I met in Moulton Iowa, climbing the Bear Tooth Pass 10,900 ft (33 miles of switch back roads starting at the mountains base then almost going straight up) and seeing the amount of poverty in this country and how people live with it.
Almost every day with those that I meet I tell others about those that I met in Moulton, in particular the children.
Here are some pictures :
One of the first stops for those running for President of The USA come by and see these guys in Moulton Iowa.
Some of these pictures were taken while climbing to the top of the Bear Tooth pass:
Here is some photos of what it looked like going down The Bear Tooth Pass :
Here are some examples of the poverty that people live in
I am going to make it one of my missions to mentor those that want to stop the poverty in their lives. They first have to want to make certain changes in their lives though.
When I first came to America, one of my first jobs was delivering newspapers and pizza. In one of the newspapers I was delivering I found an ad about an advertising position. While I did not know anything about advertising, I knew one thing and that is I did not like where I was financially. So I applied, got hired, figured I could do much better than the dope sales guy they had there. At the end of the third year in my ad sales career, I was the first guy to sell over a million dollars worth of advertising.
I firmly believe in making others successful so they can make as much money as they want.
