WEST PALM BEACH ENTREPRENEUR BIKES “224 in 24 for 4” AROUND LAKE OKEECHOBEE TO HELP THE CARING HOUSE PROJECT FOUNDATION

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – April 2, 2014 — A West Palm Beach advertising agency executive will bicycle around Lake Okeechobee April 19 to raise money for the Caring House Project Foundation. Since 2003 The Caring House Project Foundation has been building self-sufficient villages in Haiti that currently provide housing for thousands of families and their children.

James Whelan, president of The James R. Whelan Advertising Agency, will peddle around Lake Okeechobee twice, a distance of over 200 hundred miles in order to raise funds. He’s titling his ride “224 in 24 for 4“.

“I’m riding 224 miles in 24 hours to raise $16,000 to build 4 homes in Haiti, “ Whelan said. “All the money raised goes to the Caring House Project for the construction of its next village that will house hundreds of Haitians.”

The Caring House Project Foundation was founded by Frank McKinney, a Palm Beach real estate developer, in 2003, and has been helping Haitians and building villages ever since. “In 2014 Caring House Project is planning to build its 21st self-sufficient village in Ravine a’ Couleuvre, a small Haitian enclave near the Town of L’Estere, population 3,000. The village is located on the northwest coast of Haiti,” added McKinney.

Each village houses about 400 Haitians and, in addition to 40 painted concrete and steel homes, has a church and community center, a water well, latrines, water filtration systems, and even goats and chickens.

The staging area for Whelan’s “224 in 24 for 4” ride will be at The Holiday Inn Express in Clewiston. He will start peddling at 3:00 AM from the parking lot

Whelan is no stranger to long bike trips. Last year he biked over 4,200 miles from Seattle WA, to Key West, FL. “I’m combining two things I love to do, helping people and riding my bike,” Whelan added. “I went to Haiti last year and helped with the construction of a village and saw the great work the Caring House Project is doing.” See more adventures of Jim here at http://www.whelanadventuresinbiking.com/.
